ABOUT HCSA A

The Housing Center Student Association (HCSA) is an organization that is comprised of everyone living in one of the four residence halls or three apartment complexes at the University of Oklahoma. The HCSA works with residents, faculty, staff, and students of the University of Oklahoma to represent the interests of housing residents to housing administration, university administration, the community and others.

Our mission:

    • to provide a foundation to reach out to the housing community

    • enhance the living and learning environment

    • to develop student leaders

    • to increase the overall quality of residents' lives.

HCSA with residents and our residence life staff plans and executes programs to benefit the lives of housing residents. These programs range from simple movie nights to haunted houses, skating events, weekend programs for housing residents, and much more.

In addition to providing programming, the HCSA legislative council works to pass, author, and vote on legislation that affects all housing residents.

 

Structurally, HCSA is comprised of four branches:

  • Executive  - The Executive Branch is comprised of the HCSA President, the HCSA Vice President, the six center presidents, our National Communications Coordinator, the Executive Secretary, Executive Treasurer, Webmaster and a full time faculty adviser. The executive branch works to provide residents with programming, events, and representation at various leadership conferences across the country.

  • Legislative - The Legislative Branch is comprised of the Legislative Chair, Vice Chair and the four housing representatives from each housing center.  The legislative council is responsible for the authoring, passing, and voting on legislation which affects housing residents. This legislation can range from authorizing funding to requesting a policy change within housing.

  • Judicial - The judicial branch is comprised of a chief justice and a group of two other justices. The Judicial Branch is responsible for the interpretation of our governing documents and for the validation of our yearly elections.

  • National Residence Hall Honorary  - The NRHH Branch is comprised of a President, Vice-President for Recognition, Vice-President for Selection and Induction, Secretary, Treasurer and various students (both active and inactive members). The NRHH Branch is responsible for the recognition of various students, programs, staff members, and others within the housing community who make housing a better place for all.

     

HCSA is a registered student organization with the University of Oklahoma Center for Student Life. We welcome all members that are students at the University of Oklahoma and who live in housing.

HCSA does not discriminate on the basis of race, gender, sexual orientation, color, religious beliefs, political affiliations, etc.
